Watching the news these days can be emotionally draining. The headline stories are usually about crime, major accidents, natural disasters, epidemics, or terrorism attacks. If there is a breaking news story, chances are it probably isn’t good news. I live in a major metropolitan area, so unfortunately the majority of the news is quite dismal. I have learned to brace myself as I watch the succession of stories just so I can be a well-informed citizen. I worked in a television newsroom for several years, so I know that when you do see a “good news” story, it’s often saved for a “slow” news day.

At the end of the week, just when I think I’ve just about had it with watching news, I hear Scott Pelley announce that “On the Road” with Steve Hartman will be coming up next. It is usually the last segment on the CBS Evening News on Fridays. This is where I can count on watching an inspirational  “good news” story. I have shed happy tears countless times watching people from all walks of life, young and old, show kindness and compassion towards one another. Watching these segments helps to remind me that good things are happening in the world, they just may not make the top news stories.

What are some of your favorite “good news” shows? I will include them in my next post.

Thank you for visiting.

Warmly,

Sandra

Greetings,

Welcome to the debut of trytoinspire.com. Thank you for taking the time to spend a few minutes with me.  This blog will be a work in progress because I am learning my way around WordPress. Please bear with me as I go through the technological birthing process of producing my 1st blog.

I created trytoinspire because I am truly inspired by stories about love, compassion, kindness, forgiveness, and perseverance. The local and world news reports are informative; but at the same time they can wreck havoc on your heart and spirit. Yes, it’s good to know what is going on in the world, but it often leaves me in a state of dismay. However, when I hear and read inspirational stories from around the globe, it warms my heart, increases my faith, and inspires me to try to make a positive difference in someone else’s life.

I would like to feature inspirational quotes, stories, interviews, art, programs, and events on this blog. I am not sure of the format or the frequency (remember this is a work in progress), but I do hope that after reading and viewing the content, you will also be inspired to trytoinspire others.

Have a great day.

Warmly,

Sandra
